Aon Appoints Key Leaders in EMEA Commercial Risk Team
Insurance broker Aon plc announced several key leadership appointments within its EMEA Commercial Risk team.
Paul Young has been appointed as the Specialty Leader for EMEA, where he will oversee the Natural Resources, Transportation & Logistics, and Construction & Infrastructure sectors. Young has been with Aon for 15 years – most recently as natural resources leader for EMEA.
Chris Chadwick has been named the Transportation & Logistics (T&L) leader for EMEA. Since joining Aon in 2012, Chadwick has led the protection & indemnity (P&I) team in the Global Broking Centre (GBC) in London. In his new role, Chadwick will focus on expanding Aon’s Global Logistics practice into Europe, increasing its footprint in high-potential markets, and collaborating with the GBC to develop a cohesive EMEA aviation and logistics portfolio.
David Brining has joined Aon’s regional Natural Resources team as the regional director, Power & Renewables – EMEA. Brining comes from National Grid, where he was most recently the group head of Insurance and Claims. He brings extensive experience from his 25-year tenure at National Grid, where he was responsible for setting insurable risk strategy, driving the growth of group captives, and delivering insurance solutions for major onshore and offshore power and gas infrastructure projects.
“We have a strong bench of talent across our Commercial Risk business, and that we are able to fill many positions from within our ranks is testament to the strength of that talent,” commented Luca Tassarotti, head of Commercial Risk in EMEA. “Paul, Chris and David will play instrumental roles in delivering integrated solutions to the EMEA region, and I’m excited to see the impact of their leadership and expertise in driving our business forward.”
Paul Young will report to Tassarotti, while Chadwick and Brining will report to Young.

AXA XL Promotes Wilkinson to Head of International Casualty, Retail, UK & Lloyd’s
AXA XL has promoted Shaun Wilkinson to head of International Casualty, Retail, UK & Lloyd’s. He will report to Ben Kinsella, head of Risk Managed Underwriting, Retail, UK & Lloyd’s.

In his new role, Wilkinson will be driving AXA XL’s UK & Lloyd’s underwriting strategy for its retail, international casualty portfolio. He will be leading the Casualty Underwriting Unit, supporting profitable growth by developing existing and new client relationships as part of the new Risk Managed Underwriting segment in the UK & Lloyd’s business unit.
Wilkinson has 20 years’ experience in the insurance market; 10 years of which were in underwriting and 10 years in broking. He has moved up the ranks at AXA XL’s casualty team since April 2020. Prior to AXA XL, he was senior underwriter, UK Casualty, at MS Amlin, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has also held casualty roles at AIG and Marsh.
Commenting on the appointment, Ben Kinsella, head of Risk Managed Underwriting, Retail, UK & Lloyd’s, said: “Shaun has successfully managed our retail casualty portfolio across our public and products liability, and our employers’ liability lines of business over the last three years. In his new role, he’ll be able to leverage his strong and long-standing client relationships as well as his previous experience as a casualty broker in the London market.”
